“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27 (KJV)

One of the most dangerous mistakes a believer can make is assuming that every man’s desire is God’s desire.

They are not the same.

Throughout history, women have been told that if a man wants something, questions something, or demands something, resisting him is the same as resisting God.

The Bible tells a different story.

God spoke to Hagar when powerful people overlooked her.

God gave Deborah wisdom to lead a nation while men sought her judgment.

God chose Mary to carry the Savior into the world and entrusted her with an assignment no man could fulfill.

After Jesus rose from the dead, He first appeared to women and sent them to announce the greatest news in history.

Again and again, Scripture reminds us that God is not limited by human expectations. His voice is His own.

Sometimes men have sincerely misunderstood God’s will.

Sometimes they have spoken from fear.

Sometimes from pride.

Sometimes from tradition.

Sometimes from a desire to preserve their own authority.

The Bible records all of this with remarkable honesty.

Peter had to be corrected.

David was confronted.

Nathan rebuked a king.

Even the disciples often misunderstood what Jesus was doing.

No human being, male or female, becomes the voice of God simply because of position, personality, or confidence.

Every claim must be measured against God’s character and His Word.

Christian women do not need permission from men to seek God faithfully.

They do not need someone else’s ears to hear the Shepherd’s voice.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice.”

He did not say, “Only the men will hear Me.”

He did not say, “Women must wait for someone else to tell them what I said.”

The Holy Spirit was poured out on sons and daughters.

God still calls women.

God still teaches women.

God still comforts women.

God still corrects women.

And God still speaks to women.

When what a man wants conflicts with the heart of God, our allegiance belongs to Christ.

Always.

Prayer

Father,

Guard me from confusing human authority with Your authority. Teach me to know Your voice for myself through Your Word and through the guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Give me wisdom to receive godly counsel with humility while remembering that my highest obedience belongs to You.

Thank You for calling all of Your children to know You personally. Help me walk in that confidence with grace, courage, and faith.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
