Devotional: Prayer Still Works

Reflection

Prayer still works. Not just in ancient times, but here and now. Many of us reach moments where frustration weighs heavy—when our plans fall apart, doors slam shut, or we feel like nothing is moving forward. In those moments, prayer is not just a ritual. It is a lifeline.

The testimony in this story reminds us: when we hand our worries to God, He answers in ways we couldn’t even imagine. A closed door in real estate became an unexpected opening into a business connection and even a ready-made customer base. That’s how God moves—beyond what we hope, exceeding what we plan, arranging things we couldn’t have seen.

Prayer changes circumstances, yes. But even more, it changes us—shifting us from frustration to faith, from giving up to pressing forward, from despair to joy.

Application

  • Be honest in prayer. God already knows your heart, but He wants to hear it from you.
  • Ask for direction. When one path closes, seek God’s will for the next.
  • Look for unexpected blessings. God’s answers may come through connections, conversations, or opportunities that seem small at first but carry great promise.

Prayer

Lord, I thank You that prayer still works. Remind me to turn to You in frustration, not away from You. Show me the paths You’ve prepared, even when my own plans fail. Teach me to wait with faith and gratitude, knowing that Your answers are always greater than what I could imagine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
