🌸 The Beauty of God’s Design

🌸 The Beauty of God’s Design

Jesus calls us to be light in the darkness. Light doesn’t hide. Light exposes what is harmful, broken, or false—no matter where it shows up. Even in the organizations and communities we dearly love, if disobedience to God is present, we are called to sit apart. To choose Him first. To love Him more than our own comfort, loyalty, or belonging. -Diane Langberg PhD

When we reflect on this wise woman’s quote we can remember that “There is nothing beautiful about racism.” Racism harms the people God lovingly created in His image. It disfigures love. It distorts justice. It wounds hearts and communities. God does not delight in that. God is not honored by that.

To love God’s people is to see them as He sees them. Each person is a reflection of His craftsmanship—unique, intentional, and good. When we accept ourselves as He created us, we honor His work. Our features, our gifts, our voices, our cultures—they are not mistakes. They are brushstrokes of the Divine Artist.

Think of a garden. Each flower is different—roses, lilies, tulips, daisies. None compete with the other for worth. Each blooms according to its design, offering color, fragrance, and beauty in its own way. Together, they form a tapestry that delights the eye and fills the air with life.

So it is with God’s people. When we rejoice in being exactly who He created us to be, we are like flowers in His garden—bringing glory to Him not by sameness, but by the richness of our diversity.

This must surely be a delight to God: His children, rejoicing in their creation, embracing their features, offering their gifts, and celebrating one another. To diminish what God has made is to dishonor His handiwork. To accept and love what He has created is to worship Him.

When we see racism, we are seeing the opposite of God’s will. When we stand against it, we are not only resisting sin but bearing witness to the truth: every single person bears the image of God.

Let us love one another with the eyes of Christ. Let us celebrate the wonder of God’s creation—in ourselves and in each other. For we are all fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

To follow Jesus is to love what He loves and reject what He rejects. Racism is not beautiful. God’s love is. And His love includes Black peoples, then and now, forever and always.

And remember, racism is not when someone calls out wrongdoing anymore than someone calling out sin is sinning.
